The Policy applies to all members of the Academy including students, staff, faculty, administrators, contractors, service providers, directors, volunteers, and visitors.
The Policy applies to complaints of sexual violence occurring inside the Academy facility or during any off-site Academy-related activities, involving members as defined above.
All members of the Academy have the right to study and work in an environment free from sexual violence. This document defines prohibited behaviours and explains the investigative process.
The Academy is committed to ensuring an environment free from sexual violence and treating all reports with dignity and respect.
The Academy will:
Sexual violence includes any sexual act targeting a person’s sexuality, gender identity, or gender expression without consent. This includes sexual assault, harassment, stalking, voyeurism, indecent exposure, and sexual exploitation.
All members must take steps to prevent and report incidents. Reports should be made immediately to the President or Program Director.
Confidentiality will be maintained unless there is risk of harm or legal obligations require reporting.
Complainants have the right to decide whether to involve police, except where the Academy must act to ensure safety.
Complaints may be filed in writing to the President or Director.
Students acting in good faith will not face discipline for drug or alcohol use at the time of the incident.
Individuals found responsible for sexual violence may face termination, suspension, or expulsion. Criminal investigations may run concurrently with internal investigations.
Knowingly making false allegations is a violation and may result in disciplinary action.
Retaliation against anyone reporting sexual violence in good faith is prohibited.
Students will not be asked irrelevant questions about past sexual history or expression during an investigation.
This policy will be reviewed periodically and revised as required by provincial guidelines.
